Real estate phenomenon Matty Ma is the number one Harcourts real estate agent in the world.
She took out the number one spot at the Harcourts International Awards, held in Australia earlier this week, surpassing over 6,400 other sales consultants world-wide.
It is the fifth time she has won the coveted number one spot, winning in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and again this year.
The Albany-based agent has experienced a meteoric rise in the real estate industry after immigrating to New Zealand 19 years ago.
Seven day weeks and a single-minded focus on business have seen Matty achieve close to $700 million in settled sales, with listings ranging from $300,000 to $170 million. She works with a multi-cultural team of seven young professionals who assist with her business.
Matty says she has seen highs and lows in the property market, and winning the international number one title during a time of change within the market is a special honour.
“It’s important to be able to adapt to the turns of the market. Good players love the energy of a healthy market, but we are also able to adapt. You have to work harder, have a vision, be disciplined, ethical and work with the team.
“Business ethics and the integrity of Harcourts are key to my success.”
Matty has been involved in massive iconic sales on Auckland’s North Shore including the landmark Gulf Harbour land sale ($35m), Sentinel Penthouse ($5.4m), 50 Rosedale Road development project ($6m+), Kowhai Road, Orewa ($12.5m), Pine Valley ($18m) and Albany Commercial Land ($35m).
However, she says she puts just as much energy into small residential deals.
“Around 95% of my clients are referrals or repeat business. My team and I look after and go the extra distance for every single client. That’s why people trust us and refer their friends and family to us.”
Formerly a futures broker and journalist in China, Matty has worked hard to establish excellent relations with overseas investors and new immigrants. She has a talent for reading and understanding international market changes and trend.
Harcourts Group NZ CEO Chris Kennedy says to be ranked the top sales consultant internationally is a remarkable feat and testimony to Matty’s dedication to her clients and skills as an astute business woman.
“In our industry one of the real markers of success is the relationship between sales consultant and client. That fact that so many of Matty’s clients keep coming back to her, and happily refer her on to friends and family, speaks volumes about her professionalism and dedication,” he says.
Matty has also won the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand top sales consultant award twice. In the past year she ranked as Harcourts New Zealand’s number one overall sales consultant, as well as the 2nd ranking NAI Harcourts commercial sales consultant, and the 3rd ranking lifestyle and rural sales consultant. She has been a Harcourts franchise owner for the past 10 years.
Harcourts was established in Wellington in 1888 and remains proudly New Zealand owned. This year Harcourts was voted New Zealand’s Most Trusted Real Estate Brand* for the fifth consecutive year.
