More infrastructure will be invited into the area to support plan change
North Auckland will get a $91m infrastructure package to support the building of 9000 homes at Wainui, north of Auckland City. The money will come from a partnership between Auckland Council, Crown Infrastructure Partners and Fulton Hogan Land Development, which will fund $91 million of roading and wastewater infrastructure.
Auckland will get at least 12 new schools in the next have already been announced and funded, opening in 2019 at Kumeu and Flat Bush and in 2021 at northwest Orewa.
Auckland Council release a plan in April 2018 for the “Silverdale West Dairy Flat Business Area Structure Plan, highlighting the areas of interest and public response to zoning requirements for the local area. in total 200 pieces of feedback were received, rating what was most important to the development of the North – rating on importance – 76% highlighted the need for local jobs, 91% creating quality and surroundings, 92% improved transport connections, 84% travel by public transport.
Auckland Council Media release – Dec 17 “Local jobs have to be a priority to meet rapid population growth and with housing development already started at Milldale, west of Millwater, we want land to be available for employment as soon as possible. Silverdale West and Dairy Flat are prime areas for business development.”
A bridge from stage 2 crossing the motorway, linking Milldale with Millwater through Highgate Business Park, will become the ultimate connection to a wide range of amenities this growing area has to offer.”
Links to Wainui Rd through Argent Lane and later on through Lysnar Rd and Cemetery Rd will expand Milldale further northwest, providing Auckland’s growing demand for new housing with over 4500 homes.
